FAQs

Common Questions:

How does insurance work?

We offer a private pay practice, which means payment is made directly at the time of service. The good news is that many extended health insurance plans cover some or all of the cost. Just check with your provider—through your own plan or a family member’s—to see if Registered Psychotherapy is included.

If you're located outside of Ontario but still in Canada, you can ask if services from a Registered Psychotherapist are covered. After each session, we will provide you with a receipt that you can use to submit for reimbursement.

What is a Registered Psychotherapist?

In Ontario, the act of psychotherapy is regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Registered Psychotherapists (RPs), as defined by the CRPO, are regulated mental health professionals authorized to provide psychotherapy services within the scope of practice outlined in Ontario’s Psychotherapy Act, 2007.

RPs use the therapeutic relationship to support clients in making meaningful changes in their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and overall mental well-being. They work collaboratively with individuals to address emotional, psychological, and interpersonal challenges using evidence-based techniques and approaches.

Registered Psychotherapists are committed to delivering safe, ethical, and effective care, and they adhere to the professional standards, ethical guidelines, and core competencies set out by the CRPO.

What is the difference between a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Social Worker ?

A Registered Psychotherapist (RP) is fully licensed to provide therapy independently, while a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) is still completing their training and works under supervision. Social Workers (RSWs) can also provide therapy and have similar training in mental health, with the added focus on connecting clients to community and social supports. All three can offer support for mental health concerns, but their paths to practice and areas of focus may vary slightly.

I’m not living in Ontario, can I still work with you?

It’s very possible. Yes, our therapists can work with clients outside of Ontario, depending on where they live. Just reach out and we’ll let you know what’s possible based on your location.

What kind of therapy do you do and how does it work?

Our therapists use a variety of approaches and modalities to support your unique needs. Many take an integrative approach—blending humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive, and somatic therapies—to view and support you as a whole person: mind, body, and soul, not just a diagnosis. Some of our therapists are also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful method for working through trauma and distressing experiences.

This means our work focuses on understanding your individual perspective and creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore your challenges. Through thoughtful conversation and collaboration, we help you build confidence, set healthy boundaries, and develop stronger relationships. You may be gently invited to consider new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding, while also recognizing and building on your existing strengths.

Sessions may include practices like values exploration, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and cultivating self-compassion. Each therapist brings their own style and expertise—check out their individual bios to see who might be the best fit for you.

Throughout our collaboration, you may undergo transformative experiences as we explore shifts in your perceptions of yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Our focus extends beyond immediate relief to facilitating lasting and sustainable changes that promote your overall well-being.
